HELLO EVERYONE && WELCOME!
My name is Nicole Rivadeneira the creator of MARIPOSA! I decided on the name, MARIPOSA, because of my Latina background. I wanted this blog to have a little piece of my heritage attached to something that I am so proud to call my own! I also wanted to dedicate the name to my loving grandmother. When I was young, she called me her Mariposa and we would always be on the hunt for the most beautiful butterfly. So anytime I see a butterfly, I think of her and all the great times we shared together.
What does the word MARIPOSA mean to me? "Mariposa", meaning butterfly in Spanish, means, to me, something or someone that transforms into something new and beautiful. When I think of it, in a sense it's sort of a new beginning. A caterpillar creates a cocoon that surrounds itself, which it eventually breaks out of its shell into this remarkable butterfly that no one expects. And with each individual butterfly is its own unique creation. Which in a way is like people. Most of us grow inside a barrier to not be harmed and once we've broken that outer shell, we too become unique and beautiful. And it's like we are that butterfly. WE ARE MARIPOSA!
